MP3 Compression software

Hi Phil,

No, not really as mp3 is already a compressed format. To further reduce the
size would require reducing the bit rate, something that would directly
affect the quality of the sound.

MP3 *is* a compressed format. You can compress your mp3's further with your
mp3 encoding program. A general consensus is to use 128kbps but that
entirely depends on your ears and the listening environment. Try it.

If your player can handle wma files then a 64kbps is approximately
equivalent to a 128kbps mp3. Convert your mp3's and they'll take around half
the space- or you'll get around twice as many in your memory.

Bottom line= re-encode some tracks at lower bitrates and use your ears, try
wma's.

MP3s are already highly compressed. That is the reason they have become
so popular. If you try to compress them further, you'll end up with a
larger file.
