Can XP Pro be removed from my old computer and reinstalled
on my new on?
.
XP Home edition has trouble installing on older computers,
there is are codes and prompts to only allow 1
installation on one computer.

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are _not_ transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

Really?
I have never seen these "codes". Perhaps if your machine comes with an
"image" instead of a Windows XP CD... But that's not really a code.

What are these "codes and prompts to only allow 1 installation on one
computer" you speak of?

Ah.. Well, the wording was unclear.

The EULA is what does what he says.. I thought they knew of some mystery
number that only allowed the CD to be used on one computer ever and
activated once, ever.. Meaning you could never reinstall that copy
anywhere, anytime, even on the same computer.

Now that I go back and reread, I can read that into their comment as well.
