Moving XP to a different computer

I am using XP Pro which I purchased and installed on a P3
machine. I now have built a P4 and want to use the same
installation CD for the new PC -- I will not continue to
use XP on the old machine. I do not understand how MS
identifies the equipment using the license, but would
think that it should be acceptable to install XP on a new
machine if it is used exclusively on only the one PC.
Any advice before I try this?

Also I've seen some writings that a purchased full
version of XP can be installed on both a desktop and
laptop with MS blessings. Is this so?

Just install XP on your new computer and you'll activate it
via the internet. If activation fails, then select "activate by
telephone" to obtain a new activation code (free-of-charge).

Only the "retail version" of "Office XP" can be installed on
both a desktop and laptop using the same Product Key.
"Windows XP" requires a new license (Product Key) for
each installation on a different computer, regardless of
the version purchased.
