There is a utility that comes with virtually every large HDD sold today in
the retail market. Usually it is on a CD/floppy and included with the HDD,
although occasionally the mfr may require you to go to their website and DL
it.
This is the best and cheapest (although Not the fastest) way to move
everything from one HDD to another.
There are always issues to be aware of:
- Latest BIOS on system,
- Mobo support for a HDD of the size you bought,
- When you are done, you may still have to run a "Repair Install" from the
original XP CD. This will account for the hardware change of HDD, loading
the proper info in the Registry and re-activating.

made by Acronis that moves stuff from an old hdd to a new one.
