Hi1 I have this unusual problem. I ma using a A4 Tech Track ball mouse. It
was working fine for 6 mths. After that the mouse tends to move vertically
up on its own. thinsking that the ball was dirty, i cleaned it. But to no
avail, the problem still exists. Its quite irritating. to see the mosue
moving up especially when one is doing scolling & the pages start moving too
fast. My anti virus is updated & no virus is found. i also have the spy
ware, but nothing turned up. The manufactuere is not able any solutions to
this.
Do any of you out there have this problem? I believe so. Another contact of
mine has the same issue with another brand of mouse, but no solution to it.
ANYONE GOT ANY SOLUTIONS TO THIS. Pls e-mail (e-mail address removed)

The problem with ball type mouse/trackballs is not usually the ball but the
two orthogonal rollers that control the cursor movement having junk wrapped
around them. Inspect these closely and, if necessary, clean them (a pair of
tweezers is usuall best). If this doesn't work, it's time to replace the
trackball.

Is this an optical tracking ball? If it is you might be having the same
problem I sometimes have with mine. Sometimes a bit of dust or a cat hair
gets into or over the optical sensor and sends the cursor anywhere and
everywhere, or sometimes nowhere at all. In my MS tracking ball, the
optical sensor is located in a recessed slot at the bottom of the opening
the ball snaps into. Try blowing it out with a strong breath of air.

Have you tried removing the driver, re-booting and reinstalling it? You
could have a corrupted file.
You don't state your operating system, but it Win9x or ME, then replace
the file 'setupx.dll'. This gets corrupted on a regular basis.

If you have a game controller hooked up, one like they use in flight sim
games,
this can cause the same problem.
