Hello, all,

I have a new hard drive that I intend to install in a friends machine. The
machine is 100 miles away, but I have the HDD and their XP disc in my
possession. Can I install the HDD in one of my machines and install XP on
it, then remove the HDD and install it in their machine when they bring it
to town? Will it work? Will XP holler at me?

Thanx,

Rip

You'll have to do a repair install when you move the hard drive, so you're
not saving any time. Actually, it's going to take more time since you're
installing twice.

Also, you run the risk that the reinstall will blow up on you. It usually is
just fine, but it all depends on the differences between your hardware and
where it's going to end up.

You're really better off doing the install on the machine it belongs on.
