Moving hard drive

I tried to move my entire drive with xp, program and all data to a newer
system. Not so fast. It won't boot. :-(

Do I need to do a new install perhaps?

Thanks. I did a Google just after posting and found it. Sorry, should have
done it first.
 
Meanwhile: <Banging head on desk>

Well, it's installed but not without a number of problems. Darn Microsoft.
Lost all my desktop icons, wrecked my AVG, Outlook Express, Internet
Explorer with all the favorites and addresses and had to re-install, and now
I'm locked out with Explorer from Documents and Settings>Administrator where
I had some important files. Can't figure out how to get into it. I do have
it partially backed up on another drive.

And I'll probably find more.

And I have. No sound card installed for some reason.
