Retail copy of XP Professional or OEM?
If Retail, just uninstall it from whatever it is now installed on and
Upgrade the Dell.

The rules for moving an OS from one system to another state that you must remove
it from the 1st system before you can install it on the new system.
Wether your Dell waranty would accept this is another story

Having the copy of windows xp profeshional is on more than one computer isnt
the problem my old computer, fried its hard drive, and its mother board, so i
would consider the windows xp instalation gone off of that computer. I just
wonted to make sure that it was ok. Because of the activation. I have been
told that microsoft actavation take a list of 7 parts of your computer, and
if more than 3 of thouse change it will make you call microsoft for
assitacne. Thank you for all that have replied.
P.S. Dell said it would be just fine as long as i had permision from
microsoft.
Thanks

Provided that the XP Pro is a retail copy (i.e. not OEM),
you can activate it as many times as you want. All you
have to do is tell Microsoft that the old installation is
kaput and the nice rep will help you activate the new
installation. If it has been more than 120 days (4 months)
since the last activation, you don't even have to call
Microsoft.
