I've used a database for many years.Now I have a new hard
drive on which I reinstalled Access 2000. First though I
copied the database to a CD-r/w being used as a drive
letter. I used Win Explorer to copy the database from the
CD to my Access folder. I now run Access and open my
database. I get an error about I cannot use some
expression. I click OK, the database opens & the table is
displayed but no default date is there. Going to Design
view I see the value set =Date$() is no longer there ). If
I try to put it in I get an error that I cannot use it.
Also where I had formatting for the date, it is empty. If
I try to put it back in, it changes to what I don't want..
I am thinking that you just can't copy a database this
way. Any help please?
Thanks much, Bob

It's not copying the database that's causing the problem.
This appears to be the very common References bug. Open any
module in design view, or open the VBA editor by typing
Ctrl-G. Select Tools... References from the menu. One of the
..DLL files required by Access will probably be marked
MISSING. Uncheck it, recheck it, close and open Access.

If none are MISSING, check any reference; close and open
Access; then uncheck it again. This will force Access to
relink the libraries.
