I was wondering if there is a way to move 1 of 2 words in
a field to a new field. For example, I have a contact
field with a first and last name. I want to split the
name into 2 separate fields, a first name field and a last
name field. Instead of creating a new column and cutting
and pasting, is there a way to move the last name into a
new field easier? Thanks for your help in advance.

one way:

Choose Data/Text To Columns. Select the Delimited radio button. Click
Next. Check the Space checkbox and click Finish.

Select the column and go to Data > Text to Columns. Use
space as your delimiter.

Sara, highlight the info you want to split, click on Data on the menu, select Text to Columns, choose delimited, then Next, click on the box next to space, you can then set data format if necessary, then click Finish. This will create a column automatically and seperate the first and last name

highlight the field that you want to reconfigure. on the top line it will show you what is in that field. just take the mouse and highlight what you want to remove and use a 'cut'. go to the field you want the data to go and click paste.

you must highlight the data in the data field at the top of the worksheet.
