Return to XP, where moviemaker works without any problems.

The Event Viewer under Administrative Tools might reveal some information if
the system is crashing. Also, when this happens, if you can bring up Task
Manger with a ctrl-alt-delete, under Processes, if you see something besides
System Idle Process pulling high CPU usage, it may give a clue to the
offending application.

You also might check the manufacturere's website to see if you have the
latest drivers for your graphics card.

Beyond that, we'd need to know your system configuration, processor, system
memory, are you using a graphics card with its own dedicated memory or is it
sharing with main system memory, software installed on your system and other
software you might be using in this procedure, other software installed on
your system and anything else that might be running when you are performing
this function. Also, you might want to take this to the
Vista.music_pictures_video newsgroup and be sure to include the information
I've mentioned above as well as things you done to try to fix the issue.

If you are using a non-aero version of Vista, MS released a version of MM
for you...2.26 I think is what you want

I also have same problem when i try to publish a short film it stops
responding.
