moved PC; fonts all gibberish

I moved the main PC from one room to another. Now all the fonts on the
screen and in 90% of the menus are gibberish. What the heck happened? I
read from a different post to try SFC /SCANNOW from the Start--Run option but
that doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. HELP!!!

try re-seating your video card (and cables)
 
resetting the video card and cable didn't seem to work. Any other
suggestions? I can't read a thing on the screen. Nothing but gibberish.

Try reinstalling the video drivers if you can read anything at all...

otherwise hit F8 while booting and see how things look in safe mode...
if you can read the screen then...just try removing your video card in
device manager...
reboot and let windows reinstall...
then install the proper drivers if it defaults to vga

Have you tried moving the PC back to the original room?

You may be above (or below) a mal-aligned MRI machine, in the vicinity of an
unshielded motor, or in the path of a malovelent foreign deity's hex.
 
Safe mode brings up the text around the icons but menu and file options are
gibberish/symbols. The text within a program seems ok but not the menu or
icon text. I cannot figure out what is missing here. In normal mode the
text around icons, menus and file options just aren't readable. I'm afraid
to uninstall the video card (NVIDIA) fo fear of losing even the display.
Help!
