Moved my pictures to desktop & lost the contents

I did a back up to CD of My Documents which fit on one CD if I removed My Pictures & My Videos

However all contents were removed from these folders when I moved them to the desktop

There is no target option in the new My Pictures. How can I restore the old pictures

At this point they may well be gone. Two points though!

1. You never store actual files or folders on the desktop. The desktop is
for links to files/folders that are stored elsewhere.

2. You didn't have to move them (pictures and videos) out when you made your
backup. Expand the folder containing those sub folders you wish to copy.
Then, highlight only that which you wish to copy. Depress the ctrl key and
click once on each sub folder to highlight it. Then copy the highlighted
folders only to the CD.

Thanks on the tip for avoiding this in the future. For this issue I can't figure out why they would be gone by moving the folder to the desktop. They are not in the deleted items folder. There were a lot of subfolders as well. I am still looking.

Did you check "Shared Pictures" in the All User's folders yet?
