Move rule creates a copy instead

I have a rule that when I get email from a specific email address I want
that email moved to a seperate folder with that users name. What happens is
the email is copied to the specific folder and there is alway an original
left in my inbox that I don't want. The rule does say move, not copy. Does
anyone have a fix for this? Currently I have to manualy delete the email in
the inbox. Kinda defeats the purpose of the rule since I'm tring to save
steps.

Check for a second rule or a second option in the first rule that conflicts
with the first.

Hi Tborx,

Also make sure you haven't accidently selected the option "Move a copy to the specified folder". You should select "Move it to the specified folder."

Include the "stop processing more rules" action. Without that action,
Outlook leaves a copy in the Inbox so that subsequent rules can also act
upon the message. If no other rule acts upon the mesasge, the copy remains.

I will try the stop processing more rules but it I have additional rules for
other email accounts after this rule will it not process these rules because
of the stop?

For that particular message, yes. The "stop processing" means that "after
applying the rule to this message, don't apply any more rules TO THIS
MESSAGE". It doesn't affect applying rules to subsequent messages.

I'm also having this problem and have tried adding "stop processing" at
the end of the rule, but it didn't help. My PC has XP Pro SP2 and
Outlook 2000. I didn't have the problem with XP Home SP1. It seems like
if only 1 or 2 messages are downloaded at one time, the rule works
properly. But if several messages download at once, then the messages
are copied rather than moved.

Any further ideas?
Thanks.
