Hi All ,

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I have just done a new install on drive c and due to lack of space I have
been downloading and installing programs etc on a second hard drive i added
which is drive d. The problem is the second drive d already had a load of
files and programs etc on it ( which i don't need) and now it has run out of
space. So I want to move the programs and files i need to run them from drive
d to drive c and then wipe drive d and use it for storage of large programs
ect. Are there any programs or ways to get this done and not lose or effect
the programs currently running from this drive.

2) Since my new install my keyboard is acting a little strange and for
example when I press the @ symbol I get the " symbol and in order to get the
@ symbol I have to press the number 2 key. Any ideas why this might be?

3) Lastly I istalled a program and it needed the latest DirectX to run , the
problem is every time I try and install this it fails and I get an error
message.

Lastly , I have just updated to service pack 3 and I don't know if this has
something to do with my problems.

Thanks in advance.

*** You could to this:
*** 1. Copy all files from "d:\Program Files" to "c:\Program Files"
*** 2. Use diskmgmr.msc to change the drive letter D: to E: (for example)
*** 3. Create a logon script with this line inside:
*** subst d: c:\
*** The above steps will ensure that all files & folders that were
*** previously kept in d:\Program Files are still visible under d:\Program
files.
***
*** Note also that it is not recommended to store programs on a partition
*** other than the system partition. It causes all sorts of problems, like
*** the one you're trying to resolve. It would be much better to follow this
*** sequence:
*** - Estimate the amount of space required on each partition. Be generous.
*** - Install a disk of suitable size. Be generous.
*** - Keep system files and apps on one partition, user files on another
*** partition.
2) Since my new install my keyboard is acting a little strange and for

*** Try a different keyboard.

looks like you made a mess
of things.

what you should simply do
is to copy your personal files,
like docs, pic and music off
the harddrives.

then format the harddrives and
start over with installing the
programs the way you need
them to be.

its better to start from scratch
then to spend hours even days
trying to undue and fix every
thing you have done.

can you tell us how many disk
drives you actually have and
what are their sizes?

Hi thanks for the reply .

Its an old computer and the c drive is 30 g and the d drive is 20 g. Its all
I can afford until I have the cash to buy a new one.. Have you any
suggestions regarding my keyboard problem , this one work fine before i
upgraded to service pack 3. And is there a way for me to check and make sure
direcet x is installed and running properly on my computer.

Thanks in advance

well, both drives are pretty small
and won't do you much good
to spend a great deal of time
trying to reorganize.

what you could do is to right
click on my documents, select
properties and change the drive
letter from c to d.

then the entire folder will relocate
itself to the d drive.

thus you can save your d drive
for your personal files and leave
the c drive reserved for system
and program files.

in regards to the keyboard, you
may simply need to reinstall the
keyboard driver.

it should be a generic kb driver
anyways,

but uninstalling the driver may
help to reset the driver for the
kb.

Your keyboard layout is probably English US rather than English UK. Change
it control panel, regional and language options, languages tab, details
button. Set English UK as the default, and if you have no need of English
US, then remove it under installed services.

Perhaps you are having a UK keyboard selected.

Go to Start/Control Panel/Regional and Language Options
Click on Language Tab and then Details
Click on Add
In the new dialog box, from the top drop down window select English
(United states) US

Now remove the older one.

You are done
