Mouse Speed Fix?

I thought it was just me thinking that my
mouse behaviour on my Windows XP home machine
was different to my Windows 2000 work
machine, but then searching Usenet on Google
found that others also notice this. Is this
because of the Acceleration option offered in
2000, which (AFAIK) isn't in XP? Is there
any other reason?

I found the following article which may be

But has anyone offered an automated app to
allow you to adjust these values?

My Logitech mouse has those settings under Control Panel \ Mouse\
motion tab. If you haven't already done so, it might be an idea to
download a new mouse driver intended for XP.

I actually have a 5-button mouse from Trust, and I'm not
sure they have issued drivers especially for XP. I tried
adjusting the mouse registry values using RegEdit to match
those on my work PC, but with no luck. Comparing the two computer,
while the cursor on 2000 moves very smoothly with pixel precision
when the mouse is moved slowly, the cursor on XP moves in jerks,
even moving backwards at some points. Now that i notice how
bad it is, it's very annoying. I may try an optical mouse at
home and see if the behaviour is any better.
