Mouse problem - no answer

Using WindowsXP Pro Sp2.

The problem with the jumping mouse has been posted by two or more people
besides myself so obviously it is not an uncommon nuisance.
The mouse will jump somewhere on the screen even when it isn't being touched
and then freeze. When that happens the PC will not shut down unless it is
done manually.

I have used Adaware, Pestscan, Norton Antivirus, Norton Clean Sweep, defragged
and cleared the cache, all to no avail.

Surely there must be an MSVIP who can handle this one.

Have you done the obvious and changed the mouse?

Also had the same prob in work.. turned out to be a miobile phone on charge
on top of the PC!

From what I can find, you originally added a "me too" comment to the end of
another thread which is never a good idea if you expect a response.

If you have already done the obvious things like cleaning the mouse ball or
lens and tried a different mouse, see the following article which details
the behavior and resolution you are seeing.
