Mouse pointer flashes & System slows down

Hi

The Mouse Pointer of my XP-Home Dell NoteBook lately flashes and slow down.
I didn't install any new program to my notebook.
Can any one help me to solve this problem?

Scan your System with latest virus definitioned antivirus.Also with
latest versions of Spybot,Search and Destroy,CWShredder as well as with
Adaware.Run them in Safe mode.
