The Mouse on the PC using Windows XP Pro SP2 all at once has started making
beeps from the computer at random and locks up from a few seconds to
permanatly having to reboot the system. Mouse works fine on other PC and
driver states it is most current. Any suggestions with help.

Hi Anderson,

It may not be the mouse at all. Freezing is usually a hardware issue, and
the frozen mouse may just be a symptom. Check the motherboard manual, as the
beeps may be a warning that the cpu is overheating or that the memory is
faulty. If you want to check the memory, there are free programs here:

There are different kinds of mice- and the different types can have
different possible causes for such symptoms. If you want help you really
should give enough specific information to allow people to help. Otherwise
people waste their time giving solutions to non-relevant situations or don't
bother trying.

For example here- if your mouse is using a serial port for connection the
resources can be shared - if your modem uses the same interrupt you get the
symptoms you have described. There is a solution from here- but is it
relevant to the circumstances you have kept secret?
And although your mouse works on a different computer you seem to be
assuming that the mouse off that computer would not work on your machine-
did you try? It may not, but can you be sure..
