mouse buttons (especially R) malfunction

Sometimes (quite often actually) after being online for
some while (maybe over an hour but haven't timed it), my
Right mouse-button seems to have no effect at all in any
window and Left double-click also has no effect e.g. in
starting/opening a program/file.

If I close down all IE windows, it seems to recover
(without rebooting) but that can be a pain.

Any idea what's happening ? Can I stop it ? (I don't
think it's always done that).

If not, is there an easier way to recover my mouse
buttons functionality ?

Thanks for your help, Phil :o)

Hi Chipmonk - thx 4 replying.

No, I do have Yahoo 5 (from ages ago) but dont use it
much. Haven't been using it while having this mouse
button problem - seems to be independent.
Any ideas ? Thx, Phil

Hi,

The only other time I've experienced similar symptoms was when I changed
modem drivers.

Can't imagine why or how IE would interfere with your mouse, though. That's
not to say it isn't the cause.

If you replied with more details perhaps someone could narrow it down a
little.

ie. USB or serial? Wireless? Optical? WinME? Have you recently changed ports
for any hardware, or PCI cards? Re-configured a modem?

Hi, yeah it seems strange but I've not changed modems or
anything I can think of. I'm a bit afraid that maybe
something nasty has hacked its way into IE6 while I've
been online sometime - possible ?

I said mouse buttons but it also affects the 'mouse'
buttons on my laptop (it has a touchpad and actually two
sets of 'mouse' buttons - it's a DELL Inspiron 8200
laptop). It runs under Windows XP.

No hardware changes or reconfigs at all. Weird eh ?

Anything else I can tell you to help with the mystery ?

Do you think I should reinstall IE somehow ? If so, can
you download it from MS or should I get it from CD ?

Thx 4 your help, Phil :o)

Have you installed the new Yahoo! Messenger 6?
