Hello experts,

Yesterday I purchased 2 upgrades of winxp pro from a
local retailer. I updated both my laptop and desktop
computer which previously had windows xp home edition.
After activating and registering both machines I noticed
a problem that exists on BOTH machines. Everytime I
click once, it will sometimes double click, or even
triple click. For example, if I click an icon on the
desktop it will sometimes open up 3 instances of that
program. This happens randomly and does not happen all
the time. But happens enough to become extremely
annoying. I cannot go 3 minutes without it occuring. I
checked safemode, and it does this behavior in safemode
on both machines. I deleted the mouse driver out of
safemode and restarted and ended up with the same
result. Erratic behavior.. sometimes it will work fine
for a minute.. and then double, or even triple click
when in xp. Both mouses are optical and are USB..
different brand names. Microsoft Explorer, and Harma.
And to be on the safe side, I checked the mouse
properties and it is set to a double click status. I am
at a loss, I checked the knowledge base to no avail. Any
help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh

Perhaps the mouse sensitivity settings in control panel \TweakUI?

Under the circumstances, you might want to change your single-click
launch to the double-click alternative. Control panel \ folder
options \ general tab. Reboot.
