Even if I set the properties for the mouse so that it should not wake up the
computer it still does. I should perhaps mention that it is a USB/PS2 fitted
into the PS2 socket with the USB adaptor supplied.
Even when connected as a USB device the same problem exixts. Any techies out
there with any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Nigel.

Hi Nigel,
You may have it set to wake on. In your BIOS. Go to the BIOS setup and
disable the feature

Maybe your computer isn't really "asleep"?

There are a number of states that your computer could be in where it looks to
be "asleep". It could be "shut down" (powered off), "hibernating" (powered
off, but with memory contents saved to disk), in "standby" (still on, but in
low power mode), or a screensaver may be active (blank screen - possibly DPMS
"off/standby/blank", or just a black display).

Your "wake on mouse" setting may only apply to one (or some) of the above
states. Usually the mouse will always "wake" a screensaver, for example.
There may be settings in the BIOS as well as in Windows itself that will
affect the "wake on mouse" behaviour.

Sounded a good idea but under my AMIBIOS there does not appear to be the
selection available.

Have just tried a USB mouse and it stays asleep when I move the mouse and
wakes when I click (anything) which is correct. So this ONLY happens when I
use the PS2 connection.

The fix is:- control panel->device manager->keyboards->hid keyboard device->
properties->power management

Uncheck the "allow device to wake computer" box (same as you did for the mouse)
and resume your happy existence!
