Mounting CF drives

Does anyone know if there is anything out there that allows the drives in an
extended partition to be mounted when the card is in a PCMCIA slot on an XP
Pro machine? I can see both drives on the target (in trueIDE mode), but only
the primary partition appears when I plug it into my development machine.

TIA

Simon

Hi Simon,

I haven't seen anything that will allow you to browse anything besides
partition 0 when attaching a CF card that is attached via anything but an
IDE connector, and then the card has to be marked as fixed.

You can use a product called WinHex to browse the file system on any
partition, and read files from the card. I don't think it will allow you to
write files however.

I am having a related problem where an IBM/Hitachi MicroDrive is being
reported as "Removeable". How does one flag the drive as "fixed" ?

TIA,

Hi Dave,

You will need to contact your CF manufacturer and ask for a tool that will change this flag.

Hi Slobodan,

Thank you for the quick reply. I am on the phone with Hitachi at this
moment... The tech support person claims they have no such utility. Do you
have any ideas? If you have such a utility, could you please email it to me?
My email address is (e-mail address removed) (without the .nospam at the
end)

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

There are few options here:
1. Your tech support is right. Then you must chage your CF manufacturer. Look at some posts from these days on this subject and
which CF disks to use.
2. Your tech support have no idea what they are talking about.
3. They have devices marked as fixed available for you to buy.

All options are possible.

Konstantin,

Gee I have seen this post on google also. But I was convinced all the time that we are talking about CF :-(
Now I see that this is not a original question from the root of the thread :-(

Thanks for jumping in :-)
