Hi all -

I'm planning to build my first computer and I need some suggestions as far
as brands and specs are concerned. Also, would it be better to get a board
with the processor integrated already or buy the two separate?

Thanks to all who respond!

Newtechie

No boards come with an integrated processor; they do come with integrated
sound and/or video and/or LAN.

You can check the "PC Magazine" or "Computer Shopper" web site for
motherboard reviews.

It really depends upon what type of a system you want. I always match
the processor with the MOBO. If you are into gaming I would look at 64
bit processors and PCI Express video boards. I'm partial to AMD
processors and Asus MOBOs but Abit also makes good MOBOs.

I am upgrading the motherbroad to a system that currently has XP pro 2ed. i
was looking very seriously at the amd 64 bit processors with the asus mobo's,
is there anything i need to do in particular to make this as seamless as
possible? thanks in advance for replies.

Hello

Go to www.asus.com and look at the different type's
of mother brds. Look for what you want and then
choose direction oyur going in, weather it be 939 AMD64
754AMD64, 462AMD, or INTEL 478 or the new 775Intel
