Hi there,

I would like to set up a unique email account for my son using Outlook 98
under WinXP.

My own account works just fine and so I have added another account for my
son and this receives email addressed to him and using a rule this is moved
to his own folder.

Great so far...

The problem comes when replying to his email - the email address is shown as
coming from my email address.

I have correctly typed his own email address into both email address and
reply email address under his account details but when he writes or replies
to his email the sender still sees the email as having come from me.

Is there a way to setup a profile/account/user or whatever so that when he
writes email it appears to come from him and not me?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Dear Shelley,

in Outlook 98 you have 2 different modes. One is the "Internet Mail Mode"
(IMO) the other mode is the "Corporate Workgroup" mode. In the CW mode you
can create different Outlook profiles (one for you and one for your son). In
Internet Mail Mode you can not create additional profiles.

You can check the mode if you look under Tools:

Email Accounts = Internet Mail Mode
Services = Corporate Workgroup Mode

The different of IMO and CW and how to change the mode:

I think you must change to CW mode to create an additional email account and
PST file for your son.

Hi Oilver,

Many thanks for the quick reply and the links.

If I now change to Corporate Workgroup Mode from the existing Internet Mail
Mode will this affect the email already received in my existing Inbox,
folders etc?

Will I lose anything else such as address book, rules etc?

Thanks for your help
Kind regards,

One final thought - might I be better off taking this opportunity to upgrade
to a newer version of Outlook such as 2000, 2002, 2003 etc?

Thanks for your help.
Kind regards,
