More RAM == Lower Battery Life on Notebook?

I think the subject says it all. Is there a material impact on notebook
battery life if I were to, say, double my installed RAM from 1 to 2Gb?
References to info on this subject would be appreciated.

Personally I'd have thought the power demands of running the extra memory
would be eclipsed by the power demands of swapping data to and from the hard
disk with just the 1GB.

If you use heavy duty apps or a number of apps concurrently that thrash the
hard drive, you'll probably get longer battery life with the extra memory.

Anyone else?

That's a good point that I had not considered.

I need the extra RAM no matter what. If I need an extra battery, so be it!

I upgraded from 1 gig to 2 gigs and have found a battery life boost, not
substantial, but definitly there.
