Is there a website where I can send some of the things I
am trying to make work using Access and get advice etc.?
I have been working on trying to make Access automate a
number of tasks for my work as a speech pathologist and
have them nice and consolidated into one neet little
package.i.e. writing reports, Medi-Cal billing, printing
lists of students by catergories etc. Each time I get
one problem solved, it creates more problems! I have
posted questions and have had great answers and each one
works, but then I try to make it work all together and it
seems to get all messed up! I know that there is a way to
make what's in my head work using Access!...I think, I
hope...but I'm missing the pieces. I've done some
tutorials, looked at some books, limped thru the Office
help files 'til I was crosseyed. But, all of these are
aimed at business records etc. so it's hard to figure out
how to adapt it for my needs. Any suggestions?
Sorry this is long, I know the guidelines....but I'm
frustrated and don't want to give up after all my hard
work!

Hi Lisa,

The newsgroups are about the best free help that you are going to find. If
you are making progress then just stick with it and keep coming back with
your questions and folks here will try to help you sort it out. I know
firsthand how difficult it can be to find the perfect example to help you
sort out how to accomplish your goal but this is actually part of the
learning process. Just keep asking questions and eventually it will all come
together.

If you are really frustrated you might want to think about hiring a
consultant to help you get your project on track. (Note: I'm not looking for
consulting jobs so this is not a solicitation for me to be your consultant -
people touchy about that here!). There are many people who frequent these
newsgroups who also do consulting and there are numerous websites and
references here that should help you find someone who migh be willing to
work with you.

Good luck -

This is the reason that programming is a profession (some say black art).
You can stick with it by yourself and keep posting here but you could also
hire a consultant/developer to help also. Someitmes this is a good thing to
do to get things rolling on the right track. Make no mistake though, you've
learned the first rule of software development which is that the more stuff
you have going on the harder it is to get the whole thing to hang together
and work the way that you want.

Ok, ok...You're right. I just want it to be perfect and
solve all of our hours and hours doing repetitive
ineffective government required piles of paperwork so we
can spend a little of our day helping kids! I'll keep
plugging also. It has been a terrific learning
experience. I've already made some extra cash just
teaching collegues how to use the functioning part of
it. I'll post again, and probably again and again!
Thanks for the encouragement. I feel much better now! :)
