Is it possible to extend the amount of columns in excel beyond column "IV" in an excel 2000 version?
 
Nope :-(, nor 2002 or 2003

No way around this limit in Excel 97 - Excel2003

For this and other specifications use Help and type in Excel
Specifications.

There are some exceptions but in general terms specifications are
specifications and can't be changed.
