In Excel 2000, I'm using:
Font: Courier New
Font Style: Regular
Size: 6

In cells containing numbers (for example: 1997 or
1,012.67), all of the characters are the same width.

But, in cells containing text (for example: 118302020-1
or Johnson), all characters are NOT the same width.

What font can I use (with Size: 6) so all characters have
the same width?

Thanks

I've tried this on my machine and I get the same result. It could be caused
by the display settings and resolution, because it is all lined up on Print
Preview.

The most common monospaced font is Courier (or Courier New)
Another one that I believe comes with Windows is Lucida Sans Typewriter
But nothing works with 6 point - Excel replaces the font by a screen font

Debra Dalgleish posted this:

You can change a registry setting to prevent this from happening (make a
backup copy of the registry first):

1. From the Start button, choose Run
2. Type regedit then click OK
3. Click the + sign to the left of HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Open Software, Microsoft, Office, 9.0, Excel, Options
5. Choose Edit>New>DWORD Value
6. Type the name for the DWORD: FontSub
7. Press Enter to complete the renaming
8. Choose Edit>Modify
9. Type 0 as the value, select Decimal, and click OK
10. Close the Registry Editor

=====
That 9.0 will vary with your version of excel.
