Monitoring Usage of my home PC

I noticed that my ISP usage monitor increases 6MB on daily basis, while I am
not doing anything on the PC. To check it out, I installed a new installation
of Windows, to avoid having any SW which might be doing some activity in the
background. The usage rate is still the same. I checked with the ISP, and as
expected they sent the ball back to my court. If I turn off the modem, unplug
the cable, or switch off the PC, no usage occurs.

Any ideas of what could be the reason for this usage, and how I can stop it?

I am using MS Windows XP Professional - Version 5.1 (SP1).

Thank you very much for your effort and time....

First, do you have a firewall, spy blocker, and virus scanner installed? If
not, your system is unprotected on the web and who know what's really
messing with you?

Agreed with Jerry. Make sure you have protection on your computer. Also if
you have peer to peer software on your computer someone may be downloading
mpgs from your pc.

We have software that we use to teach IT skills. It is a simulation of the
windows in flash. Is there a product that uses real applications, records the
user interactions in the windows environment and assesses and marks user
performance.
