My monitor will automaticly powerdown when clicking to
open a new window and the only fix is to reboot the
monitor. This happens very frequently until the system
has been left on for a extended period of time and even
after a extended period of time the monitor will
sporadicly powerdown and again I need to reboot the
monitor. My solution has been not to turn my computer
off. I have XP Home, a Nvidea GEforce Video card with the
latest driver, AMD2k processer, Sony Multiscan E400
monitor. This issue seems to have occurred since
Microsoft helped with another issue (I lost the ability
to boot into Windows after a attempted automatic system
update. We had to reinstall Windows. This familiar to
anyone?

While I'm waiting to get my question answered, I'll help
all I can. The best thing you should do is check the
manufacturer's website for your monitors. See if theres
any help with that issue. See if you can download a patch
or something. If that doesn't work, maybe its Windows
doing something in your System to make it keep on turning
it on and off. To check the System File Checker, goto
Start>Run. Type in SFC /scannow. Type it in with the
space between the slash. Maybe it might dtect something.
If that doesn't work, post a reply on your post.

Hi Thx for the info. I did run the SFC and I went to
Sonys website but I wasn't able to find a patch or
update but i did go thru some other steps to put my
Monitor back to factory specs and the issue just got
worse, the monitor now powers down every few seconds and
I have to reboot each time. I also noticed that that the
fix now is to turn the brightness all the way up and this
seems to fix the issue. Sounds like the monitor to me. I
wish I had another to do some tests but I don't. Anyway
thx for the Imput
