Monitor not turning off...

Getting kind of annoying, wonder if anyone has a fix... SOMETIMES, not always, my monitor refuses to turn off (windows power settings) after the set amount of time... The screensaver (windows default) starts all the time, only problem is the monitor doesn't always turn off!!! Monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 753DF, nothing wrong with it, worked fine on win98 (only upgraded about a month ago)...

It's really bizarre... Sometimes it'll turn off, sometimes it wont... And if I disable the screensaver all-together, sometimes the monitor turns off, sometimes I'll come back 4 hours later, and find that my monitor has been sitting there, with the same image, for 4 freaking hours..

Can someone please help me?

Thanks!

I'm getting the same problem. At one point the monitor turned off after 10 mins like I set it in the power options. Then after I rebooted it just stays on screen saver.

I've just turned screen saver off & just told it to switch the monitor off. Looks like it's working.

But I'd much rather have a proper working Windows.

Note that this is only happening on my new HD. I'm using exactly the same version of Windows XP Pro and everything worked for the old HD.

Would be grateful with any suggestions.
