Monitor not turning off in power setting

Installed WinXp Pro cleanly with a Soyo KT400 Dragon Lite mob and noticed
that my monitor will not turn off when set in the power setting of WinXp.
Have Tray Widget Pro running to supposedly control the screen saver, which
comes on when set. However when I come back when the monitor should be off,
the screen saver is off and the monitor showing brightly instead of being
turned off. Even deleted Tray Widget and still no turn off after set
minutes. Anyone know if there is a registry line to edit to correct the
power saving?
 
Hello DrB,

The first thing I would look into is a BIOS upgrade. The most up-to-date
BIOS revision for your motherboard is BIOS Revision 2AA8 dated 9-18-2003.
You can find this at www.soyousa.com.

In addition to a BIOS upgrade, you may also want to check into updated
drivers for you graphic display adapter.

Loaded latest driver for Crucial Radeon 8500LE and the Sylvania monitor.
Power scheme works now. HOWEVER, now I have a green tint with desktop larger
than my screen. Never was this way before. Wonder if the Sylvania (do not
have certified drivers for WinXp) F912 doesn't work well with the Radeon
driver for WinXp since it worked great with WinMe. Any thoughts?
 
Since Sylvania F912 drivers are not certified for WinXp, I figured that I
should not use the latest adapter drivers. So I reloaded and overwrote the
drivers using the original CD from the Adaptor and behold everything works
fine.

Suggest to everyone else beware of updating unless your hardware is the
lastest and approved.
