my agp speed was at 8X but my video card was having some problems so i though that if i set it down to 4X then it would start working better. so i did that and now i cant get my monitor to be on at all. it is always in standby mode and will not even start up for a second at start up. i have no idea about what to do. all i know is that it started when i set it to 4X. any ideas on how to fix this would be great. thanks

Open the case and "re-set" the BIOS jumper ... your motherboard book will tell you how.

;)

Also, if you haven't already, switch off Monitor, disconnect mains plug, plug it in again, then switch it on again. Sometimes they get 'stuck'.

damn! iv just had this problem with 2 mobo`s. I was convinced i`d knackered the AGP ports. One was sent back as DOA (replacement worked first time) other one was from a rock-solid system that had a mobo upgrade. I didnt change any settings. Any ideas to help crazyeyes might help me too!

:) Kenny

Check the oil & water ... are you getting a spark? You may have to pull one of the plugs out and rest it on the engine casing and get someone to turn the engine over to see if it sparks ... be careful you could get a nasty shock.

Ok, sarcasm over ... please supply more information on you PC, both of you.

Well, my problem is with old bits from my last system. My Crazyeyes needs the help more than I do, i`ve got a working computer.

(thats not meant to sound like na na nana-na, but my problem is neither here nor there)

Have you changed any bits of your set-up, Mr Crazyeyes? What was happening at 8xAGP?

Kenny

The first thing to check is to see if your motherboard and graphics card are both capable of AGP 8X, if they are then you should not get any problems running in this mode, hope this helps.
