I am hoping someone can tell me how I can lighten my
display monitor.

I have already turned the monitor knob to its brightest
position. However, my desktop display is so dark if I
choose one of the desktop pictures that I can barely see
it. Consequently, I've selected no desktop picture and
simply have a white desktop.

Another problem I have is if I print pictures taken with
my digital camera the printer and monitor don't match.
The pictures printed are always much lighter than the
display. Dince my display is dark, when I lighten it the
printed pictures are all washed out (too light).

I am guessing there is some software adjustment that needs
to be made but I'm not real computer savvy and don't know
how to find it. And if I did find it I probably wouldn't
know how to adjust the settings.

Any help for a computer challenged person would be deeply
appreciated.

Thanks

There are two possibilities. One is that your monitor is on its way out. Old
monitors lose brightness.

If that isn't the case, you may be able to adjust your graphics card
drivers - depending on what graphics card you have. e.g. the most recent
Nvidia graphics card drivers can be adjusted for brightness, contrast
and colour balance. To access them, right click on the desktop and select
properties. Then choose the settings tab and click on advanced. If you see a
tab there which has the name of your graphics card on it, select it and you
will find lots of options to tweak.

If you have another make of graphics card, you'll need to search their
newsgroups or web sites.

Take care,

John.
