Modem stopped working under XP

I have upgraded from 98se to XP but my modem has stopped
working. It is a Lucent Technology Soft modem. I have
installed updated drivers (agere 8.22) but the modem still
uses the old driver (v3.192 of the LTSM.sys). How do I get
the modem to use the new driver?? I presume this is
another .SYS file??

Do the new driver docs say to install the driver first? If so, you might
have to remove the modem, remove all the drivers, install the new
driver, then snap the modem back in.
