Modem Dial sound disappeared

Running Windows XP-Home
When dialling out via the modem the dial tones and
connections beeps etc were heard through the sound system.
This has recently disappeared, can it be restored, I
can't find anything in the modem setup ?

Open Control Panel|PHONE & MODEMS
Click the MODEMS tabs, then PROPERTIES
Click the ADVANCED tab

In the Extra Settings box, type...

M1

Click on OK to exit

See what that does. If nothing, try M1L2 instead.
