mmc.exe

When i try to get into computer management. It brings up a window named
console1 with a window inside named console root. but there is a message
that states there is nothing to show in this view. I cannot find anything
anywhere. I dont know what has happenend. Any help would be appreciated.
The only thing I have seen is something to do with internet explorer sp1?

extra info:
just did clean install of xp
havent gotten sp1 or 2
didnt download internet explorer
to get too computer management i go to run then type mmc.exe

Try going thru control panel/administrative tools/computer management
Typing mmc.exe,mine did the same thing.

Start | Run | Type: mmc | OK is working correctly.

Try...
Start | Run | Type: compmgmt.msc | OK
 
I tried what Wesley wrote and my computer flashed to the command prompt
screen and then returned to the original screen I was at. Please help!
