In windows movie maker 2 on my computer....the video player shows a "false time." The video I am trying to edit is about 5 minutes long...but yet Movie Makers shows that it is only 1 minute long. And wait....I just noticed that Windows Media Player does the same thing. Could this be a Windows Media player error?!?!

Also....when I play the file, it plays perfectly...but when it gets to the "01:01.24" that MM2/WM displays, it doesn't stop playing...it continues to play although the clock stops. But, when I save, it only saves about one minute of the clip

BTW...this does that with EVERY VIDEO on my computer. It only displays a certain percentage of the actual time. For instance..if the file is 30 seconds, it'll display that the clip is only 5 seconds, and once it gets to the 5 seconds, the movie/video continues to play...but the clock stops. I have RealOne installed, and that error isn't in effect with that player. Could it just be a driver error? I've uninstalled and reinstalled WM player....I've uninstalled and reinstalled MM2....I even went to the point of "reinstalling" Windows XP....NOTHING WORKS!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

What kind of source files are you using? Where are the from?

Okay...I did notice one thing, this error only happens with MPEG files. WMV files work fine.

Oh, my source files are MPEG, i think that's what you're talking about. I said before that MPEGs have the false time...well not all MPEGs. Only certain MPEGs. I don't know why. I"m very confused
