Mix EIDE and ATA HD's?

Have a 400MHz Pent with a small ATA HD.
Machine is primarily used for word processing only
and saving word processing files.
Looking to add larger slave to current drive for file
saving.
Will EIDE hard drive work correctly with ATA drive
currently in the machine?
(Yes I am too lazy to reinstall,or copy on new drive.)
