Missing toolbar menus

My entire toolbar menus disappeared from my word documents. All I have is a
ruler at the top and side. No arrows, nothing. This happened after I worked
in Excel, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Even my saved
documents open without the toolbar commands.
