Good morning,

I just added a File, Save As button to the toolbar for someone. Is there some way to get it to show a tool tip for it? We are using Word 2003. Thanks.

You mean like a caption about what it does?

You should be getting a ScreenTip provided there is text in the Name
property (on the shortcut menu you get when you right-click on the button
while Tools | Customize is open).

I'm pretty sure that for screen tips to show, you go to the Options tab in the customize dialog box and check the box that says "Show screentips on toolbars"... I added the Save As button to my toolbar and the screen tip shows.

I thought I mentioned that all the other tool tips were working so I know that the option to show them was selected. (I checked just in case before I posted the question.)

Suzanne's fix partially worked. I had taken out the description and used spaces because the user didn't want the button to say Save As. I can get the tool tip to work if the Save As is in there with the button that I chose. However, he wants the icon without the text. Is there a way to get rid of the text that is appearing on the button? There must be a way since none of the default buttons have text. Thanks...

You were _so_ close...

With the customize dialog displayed, right-click on the button and select
.... (drum roll)

Default style

It is not very intuitive. But what it means is show only the button on
toolbars and both the button and text on menus.
