Have lost my start/programs/acc/system tools like defrag etc. I don't know
what I have done but would like them back.
Have original disk but do not understand how to do repair as I need to
"slipstream".

Can I just uninstall all my updates then reinstall windows? Is there a way
to relocate the missing files?

Need all the help I can get in simple instructions please.
Thanks

Expand everything on Start All pr ogramsand look around for them. You could
have drag and dropped the whole list somewhere else. Even the Desktop or a
folder somewhere. Perhaps they were accidentally deleted so look at the
garbage bin.

If no luck you can locate the programs and make new shortcuts on a new
folder to recreate them, defrag.exe is located in windows/system32 folder. I
doubt that the programs are missing, just the shortcuts to them have been
moved somewhere.

Thanks for responding. No luck finding them so will probably reformat. Was
hoping to avoid but at least I will have a clean install. I have important
stuff saved on disk and all the system disks I need so not a worry. Just a
pain.

A repair installation may not be needed. See:

The Accessories program group is not displayed on the All Programs menu in Windows XP:

Restore missing shorcuts to the Accessories group:
