I'm missing the search features when I go to start, search. There is nothing
in the menu for searches. If anyone knows how to get the searches back in
the menu I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,

The Search option "For Files or Folders" will not appear if the Registry Key for that
option is missing or corrupt. If this is the cause of your problem try solving it by
doing the following:

- Quit all programs that are running.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type the following command, and then click OK:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

When you receive the "DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shell32.dll succeeded."
message, click OK.

To make changes to this entry effective you may need to reboot.

The registry subkeys in question can be viewed under this branch:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FindExtensions
\Static\ShellSearch]
