We've loaded XP SP2 on an XP Pro system for testing
and the Screen Saver tab is now missing from the
Display properties.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem..

Can't find any reference to it except under Win2k and
the registry is, of course, different......

In WinXP, I have the screensaver tab, but the list to select the screensaver
is grayed out. Is there a way to re-enable it? FYI, the "Screensave.exe"
key in the registry is "logon.scr" Would changing that re-enable the list?
If so, what should I change it to?

Thanks -
Dave

Is this computer part of a domain? If so, your access to this tab could be
blocked by a group policy.

Not to my knowledge, if there is a Domain Level Group policy that is
prohibiting those changes, it will take precedence over any policies on the
local computer or the OU.

It doesn't seem as if it is a group policy setting since the ability to view
the actual screensaver tab was changeable - it was originally hidden, but I
used

KEY:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
DWORD: NoDispScrSavPage = 0

to re-enable it.

I figured since that was a local setting, the ability to display the
screensaver list could be changed as well

How can I check my group policies to see if that is a group setting or not?

You'll need admin access to the domain and check the default domain policy.
Edit the policy and look for User Configuration -> Administrative
Templates -> Control Panel -> Display

This gives you a ton of options regarding screen saver settings on the
machines in the domain not just the ability to hide the tab.
