missing or corrupt system32\drivers\pci.sys

My pc suddenly restart and it prompts me on a error saying that
windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt
sys32/drivers/pci.sys

Insert oringinal windows start up disc and at windows
setup press r to try to repair.

I tried removing my RAM and putting back again and it started running
for an hour or so and the same problem came back again.

I couldn't get to my desktop in any mode.

Anyone have any suggestion?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you try to do a repair? Your PCI.SYS file could be corrupt or you
could be experiencing a hardware error. Try doing the repair first
before troubleshooting the hardware.

i tried replacing the pci.sys file with the one found in the driver
cache. and the system started running but after a few hours the same
problem came back again. so wat exactly is the pci.sys file for? It's
due to improper uninstallation or hardware error?

You may have a hardware problem or with a driver associated with
hardware. Could be video, sound, or another PCI device. Try booting
your machine to safe mode and let it operate for several hours to see
if you receive the same error. Safe mode will load only the generic
drivers needed for video.

Now my system can't even boot up and it produced a rapid continuous
beeping sound. i think i will bring it to the shop to check the
problem. thanx for your help.

Yes, a rapid beeping sound indicates hardware failure. Take it to the
shop, and good luck.
