Hi gang,
I have 7 machines cat5 hardwire networked, and a print server attached
to a switch. 5 of the machines are running 98se, and the other 2 are
running xp pro sp2. All are in the same workgroup, and everything is
set up p2p. This problem has appeared since installing sp2 on one of
the xp machines. The other machine hasn't developed this problem even
though it also got the sp2 ug. On one of the xp machines I'm showing
under entire network the 3 entries of ms terminal services, ms windows
network, and web client network. This is as it should be. On that
machine I will see all machines that are on and logged as well as the
print server. On the other xp machine there is only 1 entry under
entire network, and that is ms windows network. The other 2, terminal
services, and web client aren't visible or don't exist. On this machine
I can only see the other xp machine. I can't see any of the 98
machines or the print server. Now from any of the 98 machines I can
see everything that's logged, and as long as the user is authenticated
can get anywhere on either of the 2 xp pro machines. What do I need to
do to the xp machine to get the other entire network components to
show or whatever else I might need to do to have a complete listing of
machines in the workgroup. Remember that this problem didn't exist on
this machine before sp2 was installed. Everything that was logged was
visible and the other network components were all there. I re-ran the
sp2 ug but that didn't fix this problem. I have the xp firewall shut
off on both xp machines, since I'm running zonealarm. All ZA firewalls
are set up identically with a trusted range that includes all of the
machines and the print server, and everything has a forced ip within
the trusted range. 192.168.0.1 thru 192.168.0.8, and all subbed
255.255.255.0
Also please remember this problem is only on 1 machine. Everything
else is happy, and is functioning properly. The big problem is that
the problematic machine is the one that's used most frequently.
Thanks for any and all help in fixing this problem.
