I'm missing the icon that displays the connection speed
of my Internet connection in the taskbar near the clock.
I used to have Dialup connection but then switched to a
broadband highspeed Internet. I still would like to know
how I can see my connection speed but I cannot find
anything on Windows XP like this for this type of
Internet connection.

Where can I find it on my computer?

One of your network connection options allows you to show the network icon
in the system tray. Viewing status should give you your connection speed if
connected directly to broadband. (I hope)

If your icon does not show at all, simply go into
your 'Control Panel', click on 'Network Connections',
then select the connection that represents
your 'highspeed connection', from my experience, it is
usually the LAN Connection. Then "Right Click" on that
icon...to have it appear in the taskbar,
choose "Properties"; then under the "General" tab, make
sure the "check mark" is applied at the bottom of the
page where it says "Show icon in notification area when
connected". To view your speed only, and not have your
icon showing, choose "status".. your stats will show in
fact that you are connected, the length of time the
connection is up and running and the connection speed
plus the signal strength. It will also give the packet
activity as well. I hope this is the info you were
looking for..I apologize if I mis-understood your post.
Good luck!
