Hello,

I have just found that my network connections icons are missing from my
network folder.

I have followed article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825826

but no luck.

Does anyone know of any other fixes for this bug. I have been able to make
the changes I wanted to my network config through the registry, but it would
be nice to have it running ok.

From other information I have found around the web, the only alternative is
a reinstall of the OS.

Appreciate any positive feedback.

Cheers

Simon

FYI: The event the prompted me to change TCP/IP information was a
duplicated IP address. The network icons were present before this event
happened, but were gone after a reboot. May be conincidence.

Simon,

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Expand Network Adapters
Uninstall the Network Adapter and Scan for Hardware changes
Restart

This works for most users. It has been explained that the Network Connections [both Dial-up and LAN] are missing due to NIC enumeration problems. Probably, reinstalling the NIC using the above method should work.

If this does not help, you may try at Windows XP Networking Newsgroup.
