Hi,
A few months ago my laptop computer crashed and my cousin took out the hard
drive and put it in my desktop. All the files are there except for the ones
which were in the "my documents" folder. I tried navigating to "documents
and settings" but when I clicked on the folder with my name, it said access
denied. I finally got access into that folder but all the subfolders are
empty, including "my doc.". When I click on the "all users" folder, the my
documents folder is completely missing even though it should be there. Did
something happen when the hard drive was moved? Can i get my files back or
am I just completely out of luck? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Did you see this article? Moving it to another system should not have
resulted in a deletion of data files.

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

It mostly happened by accident. I right-clicked on the folder and went to
security settings. I changed around some things on that. Don't take my word

Thanks. I already took care of that but all the folders are empty. Now my
"owner" folder completely dissappeared. I'm ready to give up.

I don't know what's happening. The best way to avoid a situation like
this is always have a full and complete backup.
